Lily (vocals)\, Wesley (bass)\, Jake (drums)\, and John (guitar) have performed at local venues and events such as Food Truck Friday\, Auction Allegro\, the Belchertown Fair\, and Arcpoint Brewery and the DCU center in Worcester. From rock to pop punk they play hits from bands such as Greenday\, Paramore\, Pat Benatar\, and more. \nThis event is part of our Summer Reading Program and attending is worth a Kids SRP Raffle Ticket! SUMMARY:West African Drumming Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Come out to play with the Wendell Warriors drumming ensemble and their leader Jafar Manselle! Jafar and his performance group will first perform and discuss the history of the rhythms and their meanings as used for village celebrations. He will then demonstrate the basic hand placements used to create the tones and participants will get to practice making the sounds. DESCRIPTION:Aída O’Brien is an Americana and roots musician from Belchertown\, Massachusetts. Her music is a blend of old time\, indie rock\, blues and country. In June of 2020\, she released an EP called Girl in the Blue Dress\, chronicles the unfolding of her gender transition spanning seven years of heartfelt songwriting. SUMMARY:Ukes for Ukraine
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, September 7 at 3pm\, the Clapp Memorial Library will host a free acoustic concert by the Belchertown duo\, Ukes for Ukraine. Terry Nagel (soprano ukulele) and Jimmy Burgoff (bass ukulele) will bring their street corner music\, and their little blue tip bucket\, indoors with an hour of favorite uke tunes and more stories about their adventures on the streets. Although the situation in Ukraine is grim\, the music of Ukes for Ukraine is anything but. Drawing from the best Tin Pan Alley music of the 20’s and 30’s\, classic string band tunes\, and occasional big band classics\, the duo presents cheerful and unique versions of familiar chestnuts\, and some obscure songs that deserve to be dusted off and brought back to life. \nSo far\, Ukes for Ukraine has raised over $3\,300\, a few dollars at a time playing on street corners and in outdoor markets. All the money has gone to Blagovist 2013\, an NGO providing food\, school supplies\, and clothing to displaced families and children in the Karkhiv region.
