DESCRIPTION:The Clapp Memorial Library is starting a book club for teens in grades 7-12! This Teen Book Club will be in conjunction with the MA Teen Choice Book Awards (MTCBA)\, the only book award in the state selected by teens. Each month teens will read and discuss one book from the nominee list. On Wednesday\, May 29th from 3:00-4:00PM\, teens will discuss Where You See Yourself by Claire Forrest. Copies of the book are available for checkout at the library’s circulation desk and on the hoopla app. Snacks will be provided at the meeting.

SUMMARY:Soap-Making Workshop for Teens
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, April 5th\, at 4:00PM the library will host artist and potter Gariné (ga-renée) Arakelian in the library’s Activity Room for a Rainbow Soap Workshop for teens in grades 7-12. \nEach participant gets to unleash their creativity and make their own unique and vibrant rainbow soap! Using a glycerin based soap as the foundation\, this hands-on experience allows you to explore a world of colors\, scents\, and cosmetic glitter to craft a dazzling soap creation. With no exposure to lye\, this process ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for all. As the heated soap cools\, the magic continues as we sprinkle in the glitter\, add the vibrant colors\, and even embed colorful soap cubes. At the end of the workshop\, you will take your handmade masterpiece home\, ready to use and enjoy. With an approximated weight of 5 oz. and overall measurements of 4” x 4” x 3/4”\, this soap truly encapsulates the essence of fun and quirkiness. \nPlease note:\nMelted soap is hot. The registering of children under 18 years old for this program indicates that the parent/guardian acknowledges the possibility of safety concerns while handling hot soap. \n\nProgram starts promptly\, no admission is allowed after instructions are given.\nNo young children will be allowed in the room\, only the registered participants.\nNo exceptions will be made to these rules.\n\nSpace is limited. SUMMARY:Teen Write Nights (November 2023)
DESCRIPTION:Teens in grades 7-12 are invited to weekly Teen Write Nights throughout November as part of the Clapp Memorial Library’s annual program for young writers during National Novel Writing Month. Teen writers will get feedback\, build community\, participate in writing exercises\, and grow their word count. Teens can attend as many Teen Write Nights as desired; frequent attendance means more chances to win prizes at the final party in December. Teen Write Nights will be on Wednesdays in November from 5:30-7:00PM. (There will be no Teen Write Night on the 22nd due to the holiday.) The first Teen Write Night of November will take place in the library’s Activity Room on Wednesday\, November 1st\, from 5:30-7:00PM.
