Learn how to elevate your smartphone photos from meh to stunning with a Clapp Memorial Library program on Saturday\, May 10th from 9am-noon at the Les and Terry Campbell Visitor Center at Quabbin Reservoir. We’ll cover smartphone camera basics\, as well as tips for creating compelling images. Learn how to find interesting scenes and subjects that can lead to breathtakingly beautiful photos\, with many examples that can provide ideas and inspiration. A Department of Conservation and Recreation staff member will be on hand to discuss the wide range of wildlife and natural resources at Quabbin Reservoir. Snacks provided\, no registration required. \nDracula’s Daughter (1936)\, 69 min\nAlthough Count Dracula was destroyed by Van Helsing (Edward Van Sloan)\, who is now being tried for his murder\, Dracula’s daughter\, the Countess Marya Zaleska (Gloria Holden)\, is still alive — and her father’s death has brought her no closer to eradicating her vampiric thirst for blood. When attempts to free herself of the disease fail\, she turns to psychiatrist Dr. Garth (Otto Kruger) for assistance\, but soon finds herself struggling with the desire to make him one of the undead as well. \nDracula’s Daughter was filmed under the constraints of the Motion Picture Production Code\, also known as the Hays Code. From 1934 to 1968\, the Hays code was a set of guidelines designed to regulate the moral content of Hollywood films and has left a lasting impression on the visual language and coding of American cinema. In order to meet approval under the Hays Code\, Dracula’s Daughter went through script revisions\, costuming changes\, and film edits. The Hays Code was replaced in 1968 by motion-picture rating system still in use today. \nPublic performance rights provided through SWANK

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the kickoff of the Teen Summer Reading Program with a Teen Pizza & Movie Night on Friday\, June 27th at 6:00PM! Pizza\, popcorn\, and drinks will be provided for free as the library hosts a showing of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle! Pizza will come from Antonio’s\, which placed highly in both categories at last year’s Teen Pizza-Tasting Contest! Teens ages 12-18 are asked to call the library or email clapplibrarytab@gmail.com to register. All attendees will earn a raffle ticket for the Teen Summer Reading Program. This program is funded by the Friends of the Clapp Memorial Library.

DESCRIPTION:The Clapp Memorial Library and the Belchertown Creative Economy Committee invite you to the ViewFinder Nature Photography contest exhibit reception and awards ceremony on Tuesday\, July 1st from 6-7pm The winning photographs will be exhibited at the Library throughout the month of July and announced publicly in June\, and viewable on the Library website. The exhibition opening will include an awards ceremony to acknowledge the creative achievements of our local photographers in capturing the beauty and natural diversity of Belchertown. \nThe ViewFinder program is funded in part by a grant from the Belchertown Cultural Council\, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council\, a state agency. Additional funding is provided by the Friends of the Clapp Memorial Library. \n

DESCRIPTION:Calling all Belchertown Teens for Summer D&D\nMondays\, 4-5:30\, July 7\, 14\, 21\, & 28 \nSign up to play in a Summer D&D campaign with GM Zia! \nThe scenario takes place in Bremen\, the remote village and part of the area collectively known as ten towns\, located in Icewind Dale. Icewind dale is ruled by Auril the frostmaiden\, who keeps a spell over the area\, so that the sun will never rise and winter will never end. To keep the ire of the frost maiden at bay\, all the villages of ten towns must sacrifice something\, the biggest towns sacrifice people\, the others food\, and the smallest (like Bremen) who have nothing else to spare sacrifice warmth. \nWhen each of the adventurers was approached by a snow white great horned owl. The owl said that warmth was not enough\, and neither was food\, the thing that the frost maiden wanted was people. The adventurers have been tasked with finding a worthy sacrifice. \nThe adventurers is player driven (though they are given a objective) and mainly heist based\, with politics or combat as well (depending on what players choose) \nSpace is limited!
