SUMMARY:Creating a Picture Book with David Hyde Costello
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Clapp Memorial Library during the week of April 29-May 3 as we create our own picture book with author/illustrator David Hyde Costello. \nAt the start of the week Monday\, April 29th at 4 pm David will lead a brainstorming session with an audience of young co-creators to generate a brand new story. Then he’ll set up a studio space in the library where you can observe his process throughout the week as he revises the story text and creates the final watercolor illustrations. Monday 4 pm – 6 pm\, Tuesday 4 pm – 6 pm\, Wednesday 4 pm 6pm\, Thursday 5pm – 7pm. On Friday\, May 3rd David will present the newly finished work at 4 pm.

DESCRIPTION:Mae will share her creative work and discuss where her ideas come from and show the behind the scenes pictures of Taiga. \nThe Taiga is a photography series initially inspired by the Decemberists Hazards of Love album. It tells a story of destructive love\, heartbreak and rebirth through handmade clothing\, sets and photography. The story takes place in an ancient mysterious forest and is inspired by European fairy tales. The Taiga reminds us that nature is vastly more powerful than any individual. Mae Horak started sketches for this project over 4 years ago and have spent the past year working on bringing the series to life. Each costume\, including headpieces and props are handmade by Mae and all photos are taken by her in locations in the greater Boston area. Mae grew up in Belchertown and looks forward to sharing her work with our community. \nFREE

SUMMARY:Four Seasons of the Quabbin
DESCRIPTION:Area wildlife photographer\, Dale Monette\, shares his stories and photographs of the animals of Quabbin as they go about their daily routines throughout the four seasons. \nMonette has documented the thousands of hours he has spent on the Quabbin Reservoir watershed.  From eagles and loons to otters\, bear\, moose and more\, it’s all been captured on camera. \nSince 1975\, Monette has lived within two miles of the Quabbin. He retired from the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreations’s Quabbin Visitor Center in 2014\, where in the 1980’s he took part in establishing loons and eagles as nesting species there.
