SUMMARY:Evergreen Database Maintence
DESCRIPTION:Evergreen database maintence is planned for Monday\, February 20th (President’s Day).  Evergreen will be down while we upgrade Postgres and the operating system on the database servers.  This process will start early in the morning and we expect to be back online by mid-afternoon.  All Evergreen services will unavailable while we upgrade the database.  This includes the client\, OPAC (our on-line card catalog)\, and authentication via SIP (OverDrive\, Commonwealth Catalog\, etc.)  During this time\, we will be unable to place holds\, renew items\, or download e-Books/e-Audios.

SUMMARY:Story time with MacDuffie’s Teen Authors
DESCRIPTION:Meet students from the 11th grade at The MacDuffie School\, a day and international college preparatory school in Granby\, as they read illustrated children’s books they wrote.  Each book is inspired by a historical figure/writer they studied in class\, designed for ages 4-9\, and about modern-day issues. \nFrom 9:00 am to 9:30 am:  Cocoa\, The Panda\, written by Checie Li\, Kaylen Mahdi and Celine Wang.  Inspired by the American naturalist and poet Henry David Thoreau. The story talks about the panda as an endangered species in Asia. \nFrom 9:30-10:00 am:  You and I\, We\, written by Jade Hong and Amy Hwang. Inspired by Frederick Douglass\, the former slave who became an abolitionist\, journalist\, and civil rights activist.  The story is about bullying; how children can learn to recognize it and be allies against it. \nFrom 10:00am to 10:30m:  Parity\, written by Aniis Anderson and Jane Lyu.  Inspired by Harriet Jacobs\, the former slave who escaped bondage and wrote her own autobiography about her struggle for freedom and citizenship.  The story is about gender inequality and how girls can empower themselves to be respected and treated fairly. \nRegistration suggested.  Please use side entrance and come downstairs to the Children’s Activities Room. \n

SUMMARY:3-D & Robotics Makerspace Event
DESCRIPTION:Children ages 10 to 17 are invited to check out some cool new technology at the Clapp Memorial Library!  Registration is required.  See\, learn and use some of the coolest new tech out there\, such as a 3D Printer\, 3D Design software\, 3D Scanning\, 3Doodler\, Ozobots\, Little Bits Electronics and Sphero.  Participants will learn how to create 3D objects and print them out.  Everyone gets a 3D print but there will not be time to print them all during the workshop so you can return to the library at a later date to pick yours up. There will also be Virtual Reality demonstrations. Participants can bring their own laptops or use the ones provided.  Ages 10 to 17 ~ Registration is required. \nThis program is supported in part by a grant from the
