DESCRIPTION:Ed Orzechowski will discuss and read from his new book “You’ll Like it Here: Donald Vitkus– Belchertown Patient #3394”. \nDonald Vitkus was given up for adoption at 27 days old. After bouncing between foster homes\, he was sent to the Belchertown State School at age 6. Labeled a “moron”\, he was not allowed to leave school grounds. At age 17\, he moved to a Catholic orphanage in Springfield\, eventually joined the army\, married and had children. This book is the story of his life. On March 29\, Orzechowski will read from the book and will discuss how he came to write it\, working closely with Mr. Vitkus. \n

SUMMARY:Backyard Astronomy: Scanning June Skies with the New Library Telescope
DESCRIPTION:Yes\, we now have a 4.5 inch Orion Starblast Telescope thanks to the Friends of the Library. Members of the Aldrich Astronomical Society will visit the Library on Tuesday\, June 27 at 7:30 to introduce the telescope\, demonstrate its use\, and teach folks how to observe objects using a technique called star-hopping. Weather permitting\,  outdoor observing will take place at 8:30. Spacey door prizes too! This telescope will be available for borrowing by Clapp Memorial Library cardholders over 18 years of age.
