DESCRIPTION:The Clapp Memorial Library invites you to explore two of Belchertown’s Conservation Areas and search for 2s! \nMany children will be on school break on “Twosday”\, 2-22-22 and we love numbers and nature almost as much as books. \nEveryone is welcome to explore both or one of the scavenger hunt trails. Find 2s on the trees as you hike. Can you find all 22 of them? Take a photo (or draw a picture) of at least one of the 2s and then visit the library to pick up a prize or TWO (while supplies last). \nThe hunts will be at the Reed Conservation Area at 87 Gold Street and the Meadows Conservation Area on Catherine Drive\, off of Bay Road. \nThere is parking available at both locations. \nThe hunts will be up from February 20th until February 26th. \nPlease DO NOT remove any of the 2s. \nThe object is to find 22 twos at each trail but don’t worry if you can’t find them all or make it to each trail. Do your best and then visit the Clapp Memorial Library\, starting 2-22-22\, and tell us about your hike. Prizes will be available all week or until supplies last. SUMMARY:Teen Program: Card-making for a Cause
DESCRIPTION:Teens in grades 7-12 are invited to attend the Clapp Memorial Library’s upcoming Card-making for a Cause program where teens will make cards to share with Cards for Hospitalized Kids this holiday season. The card-making program will be on Wednesday\, December 15th at 7:00PM on Zoom. Teens will make at least one card to keep and at least one card to bring back to the library and donate as part of the library’s Card Drive. Teens must register for this program by emailing clapplibrarytab@gmail.com. After registering\, teens can pick up their card-making kit at the library starting a week before the program. Registration is also necessary to receive the virtual meeting link. Donated cards will be mailed to the nonprofit organization Cards for Hospitalized Kids. DESCRIPTION:On Monday\, November 22 at 7pm\, the Clapp Memorial Library is joining the Tewksbury Public Library in hosting Barry Van Dusen for a presentation on his latest book\, Finding Sanctuary: An Artist Explores the Nature of Mass Audubon via Zoom. The book was named a MUST READ BOOK in the Massachusetts Center of the Book’s Mass Book Awards. \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nAbout The Book: Over the course of four-and-a-half years\, nature artist Barry Van Dusen visited all 61 of Mass Audubon’s public wildlife sanctuaries\, nature centers\, and museums\, producing drawings and paintings at each location. Follow his travels and share in his adventures—from the islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket to the mountain peaks of the Berkshires. Learn about hatching turtles on Cape Cod\, rare orchids in the Connecticut River Valley\, and a bear encounter in a western Massachusetts forest.  Birders\, naturalists\, conservationists\, gardeners\, artists\, art appreciators\, and all outdoor folks will enjoy this presentation. \nAbout The Author: Barry W. Van Dusen is an internationally recognized wildlife artist living in central Massachusetts. His articles and paintings have been featured in Bird Watcher’s Digest\, Birding\, and Yankee magazines and he has illustrated a variety of natural history books and pocket guides in association with the Massachusetts Audubon Society. In 1994 Barry was elected a full member of London’s Society of Wildlife Artists. His work has been exhibited regularly in the prestigious Birds in Art Exhibition (Wausau\, Wisconsin) as well as in many galleries in the United States and Europe. At the invitation of the Artists for Nature Foundation\, Barry has travelled to Spain\, Ireland\, England\, Israel \, India and Peru\, working alongside other wildlife artists to raise money for conservation of threatened habitats.
