SUMMARY:Q&A with a Local Homeschool Parent
DESCRIPTION:Many families are trying to decide the best option for school for their children this fall. If your family has decided (or is considering) to homeschool for the 2020-2021 school year\, the Clapp Memorial Library is offering a workshop to help answer some of your questions. \nAn experienced homeschool parent and past teacher in the public school system\, Lisa Aiken\, will share her experiences and offer resources. Homeschooling for a year will look different than homeschooling for several years and is not the same as remote learning.. Lisa’s suggestions for families only homeschooling during the pandemic will be different than those doing it for the long haul. Homeschooling in one household will most likely look completely different than the next family’s homeschooling. Lisa will share a homeschool letter of intent and a list of resources. \nMainly\, she will encourage people to soul-search and think outside the box when it comes to “educating” their children. \nThere will not be legal advice or suggestions for students with learning disabilities in this workshop. \nThis workshop will be offered twice to help meet the different schedules of parents and caregivers. We will meet virtually using Zoom. \n\nWednesday\, August 26th from Noon to 1 pm.\nThursday\, August 27th from 7 pm to 8 pm.\nSunday\, September 13th from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.\n\nTo register for one of these times\, please send an email to jwhitehead@cwmars.org with “Homeschool Workshop 8/26” or “Homeschool Workshop 8/27” in the Subject line. In the email\, include the parent/caregiver’s full name\, grades of the children\, phone number and if you have a question you hope can be addressed during the workshop.
