This contest\, which has a maximum cash prize of $200\, was won by a Belchertown student in 2020. Attend this workshop\, and you might be next! Beck will teach teens in grades 7-12 how to create their own drawings in metal with special tools and hammers. Come learn to stamp images\, words\, and textures to create a truly unique ornament that will stand the test of time. While hammering their own drawings into the ornament\, teens will gain new knowledge and confidence and leave with a finished beautiful piece to treasure or give as a gift. Space is limited. Teens in grades 7-12 are invited to the library’s Activity Room on Wednesday\, November 13th from 5:30-6:30PM for “Beat the Winter Blues: Hygge for Teenagers\,” a presentation and interactive program on self-care and the Danish concept of hygge. Tea\, snacks\, and hot chocolate will be provided. This Teen Book Club is in conjunction with the MA Teen Choice Book Awards (MTCBA)\, the only book award in the state selected by teens. Each month teens will read and meet to discuss one book from the nominee list. On Wednesday\, August 21st from 3:00-4:00PM\, teens will discuss Rez Ball by Byron Graves. SUMMARY:Free Teen Book Hours & Book Swap!
DESCRIPTION:This summer\, Teen Summer Reading Program participants are invited to donate up to two books (preferably Middle Grade or Young Adult) in exchange for picking out up to four books during the Free Teen Book Hours at the library on August 2nd from 5:00-6:00PM and August 7th from 6:00-7:00PM. Donations for the Free Teen Book Hours can be dropped off at the library’s circulation desk. Teens will then be given passes that allow them to take additional books at the FTBHs. Teens do not need to donate a book in order to attend the Free Teen Book Hours. Teens can automatically choose at least one free book at each FTBH they attend. Teens must\, however\, be signed up for the Teen Summer Reading Program to receive a free book. Leftover books after the last FTBH\, and books above and below a MG or YA reading level\, will be donated to the Friends of the Library for their semi-annual booksale.

DESCRIPTION:This summer\, Teen Summer Reading Program participants are invited to donate up to two books (preferably Middle Grade or Young Adult) in exchange for picking out up to four books during the Free Teen Book Hours at the library on August 2nd from 5:00-6:00PM and August 7th from 6:00-7:00PM. Donations for the Free Teen Book Hours can be dropped off at the library’s circulation desk. Teens will then be given passes that allow them to take additional books at the FTBHs. Teens do not need to donate a book in order to attend the Free Teen Book Hours. Teens can automatically choose at least one free book at each FTBH they attend. Teens must\, however\, be signed up for the Teen Summer Reading Program to receive a free book. Leftover books after the last FTBH\, and books above and below a MG or YA reading level\, will be donated to the Friends of the Library for their semi-annual booksale.

Don’t miss this program\, which was a fan-favorite prior to 2020! DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, April 5th\, at 4:00PM the library will host artist and potter Gariné (ga-renée) Arakelian in the library’s Activity Room for a Rainbow Soap Workshop for teens in grades 7-12. \nEach participant gets to unleash their creativity and make their own unique and vibrant rainbow soap! Using a glycerin based soap as the foundation\, this hands-on experience allows you to explore a world of colors\, scents\, and cosmetic glitter to craft a dazzling soap creation. With no exposure to lye\, this process ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for all. As the heated soap cools\, the magic continues as we sprinkle in the glitter\, add the vibrant colors\, and even embed colorful soap cubes. At the end of the workshop\, you will take your handmade masterpiece home\, ready to use and enjoy. With an approximated weight of 5 oz. and overall measurements of 4” x 4” x 3/4”\, this soap truly encapsulates the essence of fun and quirkiness. \nPlease note:\nMelted soap is hot. The registering of children under 18 years old for this program indicates that the parent/guardian acknowledges the possibility of safety concerns while handling hot soap. \n\nProgram starts promptly\, no admission is allowed after instructions are given.\nNo young children will be allowed in the room\, only the registered participants.\nNo exceptions will be made to these rules.\n\nSpace is limited.
